When Did Democrats Start to Love War So Much?

Remember the anti-war left?

In the off-chance we have some younger readers today, here’s a quick refresher — leftists in the 1960s and 1970s hated war so much, that they were willing to show everyone how peaceful they were by spitting on soldiers coming back home to America from war-torn Vietnam. So. Damn. Peaceful.

Fast-forward to the War on Terror — George W. Bush is president. After sending troops to Afghanistan to pursue the Taliban and Al Qaeda, Bush then turned his attention to Iraq to engage and ultimately replace Saddam Hussein’s regime. The anti-war left, now in Congress, lambasted the president as a warmonger. President Barack Obama defeated Senator John McCain by running as a peace candidate, only to continue those very same conflicts throughout most of his presidency.

So now, with troops finally returning home from conflicts that no longer make sense, Democrats are calling it irresponsible. It’s almost like this has little to do with policy and more to do with just making Trump look bad. What a concept.
