The European Union is Just Rebranded Cold War Socialism

Products, people, and governments change over time, but the core of what made something what it is often remains the same.

As this meme cleverly points out, the idea of a multitude of nations with diverging languages, cultures, economies, and underlying ideologies being roped together by an inflated superstate isn’t exactly new. The European Union presents itself as a pan-European paradise, when in fact it more closely resembles the fallen Soviet Union with each passing year.

Think about it — the Soviet Union was a collection of “socialist republics” that operated as de facto vassal states operating at the discretion of political elites in Moscow. With the EU, all we really have to do is change some names around. Instead of Moscow, it’s Brussels.

Just look at the way these Eurocrats have treated anyone who signals any intention to leave the EU. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who wields more power than any other European leader, has said that the United Kingdom should “suffer” for its Brexit referendum. The same sentiments have been thrown at euroskeptics in Italy’s 5 Star Movement.

In terms of rebranding, European sycophants have done an excellent job. Who would have known that authoritarian collectivism would resurface in the very region of the world that once fought so bitterly against it?
