Remember When Republicans Were Called “Obstructionists”?

It’s a rare treat when you get to break down this level of hypocrisy.

This meme was recently shared by leftist Facebook page Occupy Democrats, which is essentially a daily supply of Obama worship and strawman arguments. Today’s installment was no different.

“Republicans have no plan,” the meme proudly proclaims over a picture of former President Barack Obama. “They just hate mine.”

Obviously, the meme was shared in reference to the recent health care vote – wherein the Republican-controlled Senate struck down “Trumpcare”. The meme maker is trying to suggest that the conservative approach to health care isn’t as much of a plan for the American people as much as it is simply a negation of existing law.

In a sense, there is some truth here: the American Health Care Act was hardly the sort of reform America’s health care industry needs. But this bill was killed not because it was too damaging to the relatively new entitlement known as Obamacare – it was too similar.

This meme underscores a broader trend in leftism, wherein they assume that if you don’t think the solution involves government mandates, it’s not a solution at all. The opposite is true.

Conservative senators like Rand Paul and Mike Lee have made an effective case for real health care reform, which involves getting the state out of the industry’s way, and allowing companies to expand access voluntarily.

Of course, a plan involving freedom doesn’t amount to a plan according to the regressive left.
