Remember When “Disrespecting” Obama Was Called “Treason”?

One of the best things about popular leftist Facebook accounts like this is that all you need to do to find evidence of hypocrisy is look at whatever they were posting when Barack Obama was president.

As conservatives, we were told for years that obstructing the agenda of a dully elected president wasn’t a sign of “patriotism” — it was treason. Now, with a Republican in the White House, defiance is suddenly patriotic again and we’re all a bunch of fascists. This is getting really hard to keep up with…

With the president pushing through as much of his agenda as he can with a lackluster Congress that appears too afraid to stand with him, critics haven’t exactly been shy in saying they hope Trump fails at everything he does. To be fair, many conservative said the same thing when they believed former President Obama was pushing the country too far to the left — for which they were slandered as being “un-American” for.

The truth is that Americans can say whatever they want about public officials. It seems rather foolish to suddenly change your opinion about the role of dissent as soon as your party falls out of favor, but it’s a freedom we all enjoy nonetheless.
