Remember When Democrats Were Against Endless War?

In 2008, Democrats all over America flocked to a young senator from Illinois who promised to finally, after years of seemingly endless conflict in the Middle East, bring the troops home and end the War on Terror.

As president, Barack Obama soon found out that statecraft isn’t that simple. He learned very quickly that simply taking the troops out of places like Iraq and Afghanistan would create a void that only the most well-armed will fill. In fact, President Obama green-lit a troop surge in Afghanistan to root out what remained of the Taliban. Sadly, he did the opposite in Iraq, and a new threat by the name of the Islamic State was allowed to flourish. Thousands of innocents were tortured and killed as a result as religious fanatics tore through the country.

Fast-forward to 2019 — President Donald Trump is removing troops from Syria and Afghanistan, saying that America is done solving the rest of the world’s problems. Suddenly, the party of peace is upset.

When did people like Senator Chuck Schumer start sounding like George W. Bush? We’re willing to bet it was as soon as he found out that President Donald Trump doesn’t like endless war either.
