How New Yorkers Feel About Amazon Right Now

It was a move that even New York’s hard-left politicians acknowledged as a needed development. And, it could have brought about much needed change in a city where businesses and individuals are fleeing in droves.

But, alas — it was not to be. Inspired by the anti-business rhetoric of New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and others, New Yorkers effectively chased Amazon out of their city — and the business is bringing 25,000 jobs with them.

Let’s just put this into perspective here: New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is very far from being some sort of free market conservative. But, even this didn’t stop him from understanding that an insanely profitable company moving to his state is a good thing. Cuomo may be politically disabled, but it appears he does indeed have at least a faint idea of how the world works.

The same cannot be said for the people celebrating Amazon’s move to not build its second headquarters in New York. If anything, they’re the ones most likely hurt by this decision.
