For many people, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders came off as a crazy but genuine alternative to corrupt Hillary Clinton back in 2016. While Sanders ran on the most progressive platform ever to cross into mainstream American politics, it was hard for most to find anything personally off-putting about the self-described socialist.
However, a deeper look into the senator’s ideology reveals little more than complete disdain for the American way of life. While Sanders presented himself as some sort of working class hero, his plan effectively called for the very people who supported him to cough up more cash each year to pay for his generous welfare programs.
The most egregious example was the socialist’s call for raising payroll taxes, which would have effectively taken more tax money out of everyone who receives a paycheck. By this logic, the only people who would be benefitting from this massive confiscation would be those who don’t work for whatever reason.
If you’re expecting a nice tax return this year, you can bet this is how socialists like Sanders feel about you getting to keep some of your own money.
