Bernie Sanders Wants to Declare War on the Sun to Fight Climate Change

Have you ever noticed that Democrats and progressives always seem to talk about climate change when there is nothing else to talk about?

Think about it — during the later years of Barack Obama’s lame duck presidency, when it was clear that he was never going to be able to force through another key piece of legislation again, just about all of his speeches had something to do with climate change. Why is this?

Our running theory is that climate change, more than gargantuan welfare programs or unlimited amnesty for everyone who accidentally stumbles across the border, is an agenda Democrats feel most Americans can get behind. No one likes littering, and everyone wants to save the whales, right?

Of course, climate change is the Trojan Horse of the political left. When they say they want to make the environment cleaner and safer, what they really mean is that they want to stifle economic productivity because it will hurt the capitalist class. In many ways, green is the new red.

Then you have people like Senator Bernie Sanders, who believes that climate change should be approached the same way as the Taliban. We like to imagine he means something like this.
