Here’s a piece of information that may shock you — people who commit violent crimes don’t have too much respect for the law.
Yes, it’s a bit of a hard pill to swallow. Apparently, mentally deranged individuals who are bent on grabbing a firearm and gunning down slews of innocent lives aren’t terribly moved by the fact that what they’re doing is extremely illegal and immoral.
This is one of the principle reasons why the left’s position on gun control is absolutely non-sensible. As has been proved time and time again, the only real deterrent for mass shooters has been the ability of their potential victims to fight back. It’s no accident that some of the deadliest shootings in recent memory all took place in areas where individuals are traditionally disarmed: schools, churches, and night clubs are perfect examples of this.
Americans need to understand that the solution to mass shootings is not to punish their law-abiding neighbors. By doing that, the only thing they accomplish is making it harder for said neighbors to protect them.
