The Left’s Strange Obsession with Kim Jong-Un’s Sister

CNN’s headline rang out loud and clear: North Korea dictator Kim Jong-Un’s sister was stealing the show at this year’s Winter Olympics.

When liberal news outlets weren’t fawning over who this meme quite correctly refers to as a “gulag queen,” they spent a fair amount of time worshipping the despotic regime’s cheerleading squad — which was little more than a collection of women performing synchronized clapping.

The political left’s reluctance to call out and challenge communist regimes throughout the world has been a staple of the past century, but this time the media’s tolerance for rigid authoritarianism was on display for all to see.

Make no mistake — there is nothing redeemable about North Korea or the people that govern it. The country’s citizens are walled in, routinely starved, and sent to literal death camps the minute they are found to be diverging from whatever the state has planned for them.

Then again, when you put it this way, the left’s complicit support the country almost makes sense…
