Democrats Are Having a Tough Time Running on This

If someone asked you to break down the Democratic Party’s platform for 2018, how would you answer?

Sure, you could list a few minor policy preferences the party has been advocating for years, but chances are you can’t remember the last time the party has truly pushed one of their goals publicly. Instead of promoting their fantasies of Medicare for All and removing borders from existence, the Democratic Party’s rallying cry has amounted to little more than whatever Trump is against.

This is especially problematic for the Democrats, because most Americans largely support what they are seeing from President Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress. This is especially true of the tax cuts, which have effectively put more money in the hands of working Americans. Because of this, Democrats have had to run on raising taxes, but they don’t want to be terribly vocal about it.

Taxes are, and forever will be, a winning issue for Republicans. Americans work hard, and they like the idea that what they’re earning truly belongs to them. Democrats better find another issue to latch onto quickly, because they are running out of time. Maybe they can attack the Second Amendment again? That seemed to work out perfectly…
